Channel 4, here in the UK, cancelled 'Big Brother' this week. For the past ten years this show has been the bane of my life... so, obviously I'm more than a little ecstatic about this.

(little background info here for those not in the know, 'Hollyoaks' is a soap opera on the same channel which is just god awful...)

Yup, that's the very same Channel. Don't get me wrong, they do air some pretty decent stuff (like 'The IT Crowd', the superb 'Father Ted', as well as US imports like the brilliant 'Daily Show';). It's a good channel, just with one or two ridiculously popular pieces of crap on its schedule.

It's certainly a helluva lot better than ITV (basically, 'channel 3' on our TV remote).

Concured. Big Brother. Awful. Why is it that awful shows like that get to stay on, while sweet shows like Reaper are ripped off before they even hit open water?

Consider yourselves lucky, you've only had this travesty on your screens since 2000, we've had an entire decade of it (plus, there's still one more season of it next year before they finally pull it from the schedules)! And yes, that extra year makes all the difference!!!

I confess, I quite enjoyed the first season, but that's because there was more of an emphasis on the psychological side of it (they actually had a weekly analysis from a panel of psychologists reviewing the footage - it was quite interesting). It very quickly descended into a freak show after that.

But, yeah, I'm with you when I see a bunch of pretty neat shows like Reaper and Terminator taken off the air before they have a chance to finish telling their stories. Still, at least Fox is giving Joss Whedon's Dollhouse a second chance (but the less said about Firefly's cancellation the better).

Thanks, I'm experimenting a little bit with different colouring styles right now (thanks to Mike's livestreams :D). I'm not sure it really worked here, I don't think the lines came out quite as pronounced as they could have been...

:rofl: Here in the colonies, on a sister channel of the Showtime networks, they show "Big Brother After Dark" . Basicall, 3 hours of people just sitting around talking. From midnight till 3 am. I just don't get it.

Ah, that's nothing, Channel 4's "youth orientated digital sister channel", E4, has 'Big Brother Live'. That's right, folks, you can tune in at 3am and watch a bunch of brainless, z-list wannabies sleep! For hours! And hours! And hours!

To be honest, I thought the first season of BB was okay, because there was like this psychological experiment angle to it (y'know, what would it be like for 12 people to be shut in a house together), but it very quickly became a freak show after that.

Although... I suppose if it weren't for BB, we wouldn't of had the awesome zombie mini-series 'Dead Set'... check it out, it's flippin' brilliant!
